Flower syrup

By: Sweet Shades & Delights

Finally this year I managed to make a flower syrup, a really simple recipe, to make at home. To accompany in our breakfasts or snacks. I used it along with pancakes and Waffles, leaving a really delicious taste.

sciroppo di fiori

Ingredients

  • 500 g sugar
  • 500 ml water
  • 40 g dried flowers
  • 2 slices lemon
  • 2 slices orange

Flowers

it is a simple recipe to prepare, we used a mixture of flowers and aromatic herbs: Cornflower, Calendula, Melissa, Lemongrass and Sunflower.

Preparation

Step 1

In a pot, add the caster sugar, half a cinnamon stick and dried flowers.

Step 2

Then cut two slices of lemon and orange, adding them to the mixture together with the water.

Step 3

Cook over a low heat leading to boiling, stirring everything continuously.

Let cook for about 40/50 min.

Step 4

After cooking time, remove the slices of orange, lemon and vanilla stick.

With a necklace, strain the flower syrup into a bowl.

Pour the flower syrup into airtight glass jars.

Council

In a cool place and protected from light, syrup is stored for 6 months.

Once opened, store the jar of syrup in the fridge.
